A Mahogany brass bound military writing slope c1800. This mahogany writing slope is reinforced with brass banding, corners and sides. The sides have two flush brass handles. Making this a very attractive piece. Opening the lid reveals a red leather lining tooled and with small pouches for each day of the week. The second lid has ebony stringing and opens to reveal the writing slope in red leather with gold tooling. There is a secret compartment beneath the pen and ink tray which is revealed by raising the rear flap of the writing section and pressing a small button underneath the ink bottle section.
Any collector of writing slopes would be pleased to have this one in their collection.
