This is a top quality burl walnut writing box c1870. The burl walnut on this box is some of the best I have seen for a long time it has a lovely colour and grain. The box is also brass edged and brass strung. The escutcheons are also brass strung, top one is engraved. Inside there is two original brass top inkwells, pen tray and a lidded section. The top flap has a lock to it which is a sure sign of a good quality writing box. The main lock to the box is a Bramar lock another sign of quality. There are also three secret draws. Both locks have keys and condition is excellent. Dimensions are 20 x 11 x 8 Inc high.
